How Can You Stay Fit During Monsoon and Enjoy Rainfall?
July to September – these three
months comprise the monsoon season in India. Rainfall is moderate to heavy all
over the country during this period. Most people love the rainy season after
going through the scorching heat of summer. But you need to be a bit careful if
you want to enjoy the rain without being bothered by any illness in this
season.
Some common diseases often
mar the thrill of monsoon, which should be prevented from the onset of this
season. You need to be aware of these diseases so that you may avoid falling
ill this monsoon.
Fever – It
is quite common to have a fever during monsoon. However, the nature of the
fever should be diagnosed at the earliest. Your doctor may ask you to undergo a
few tests to diagnose the type of fever that you are suffering from. It may be
viral fever, malaria, dengue, or typhoid. As mosquitoes breed during the
monsoon, their numbers increase very rapidly. Mosquito bites can cause malaria,
chikungunya, or dengue, depending on the species of mosquito that bit you.
Typhoid is caused by the intake of contaminated food and water, which can occur
when you have meals from roadside stalls. Sudden weather changes can cause
influenza or viral fever, which may infect other healthy people coming in
contact with the patient. Symptoms of different types of fever usually vary from
one to another, making clinical diagnosis easier.
Cold and cough – As the atmospheric air becomes too humid during monsoon, people inhale
lots of moisture all the time. Moreover, the sudden drop in the atmospheric
temperature can also make you fall ill with the common cold. Thus, your respiratory
tract may be inflamed and cause sneezing, running nose, irritation in the
throat, and violent coughs. If you neglect these symptoms and do not undergo
proper treatment, your condition may worsen and turn into pneumonia. Low or high fever generally accompanies a common
cold and cough, making the patient sicker.
Digestive problems – If you consume some virus-laden foods or drinks during the monsoon, you
are likely to suffer from diarrhea or dysentery. Loose motion, stomach ache,
and nausea are the common symptoms of these ailments. Moreover, you may suffer
from dehydration and fatigue due to the excessive loss of water and salt caused
by diarrhea or dysentery. Digestive power becomes weaker and you will find it
harder to digest many foods.
Skin infections – You may often come in close contact with dirty stagnant water while
walking on the roads during monsoon. So, it is easy for your skin to be
infected by harmful germs, which cause irritation, itching, rashes, and even
swelling on the skin of your exposed body parts. Moreover, wet clothes may
cause skin allergies or fungal growth on your skin if you get drenched in the
rain and cannot change to a dry dress. Skin infections are more common in
people suffering from diabetes or who have very weak immunity.
