Cough is considered to be a natural process for clearing the air passages of the human body, mainly in cases of blockage due to viral or bacterial infections. Coughing is very painful, regardless of the cause of this health condition. Generally, doctors prescribe cough syrups to cure the common cold and cough. Antibiotics are needed to treat bacterial infections. Anti-allergic medications are also prescribed according to the medical history of patients.

Ginger –

Nowadays, over-the-counter medication oil is also available for the ready treatment of cold and cough, which you should inhale with steam at least for 10 minutes. You can cover your head with a towel, to direct the steam into your respiratory passage only.  

 

Gargle with saltwater – 

A mildly sore throat can be cured without medication if you gargle with lukewarm salty water. The water should not be too hot; else it may burn your throat. Only half a teaspoonful of salt is sufficient for a cup of water. You should gargle for a few minutes before throwing out the water from the mouth. Peppermint lozenges –

The menthol present in peppermint is soothing for sore throat. Hence, you need to suck peppermint lozenges that are easily available in all medicine shops. When you keep a lozenge in the mouth, your saliva secretion increases to a large extent and it is beneficial in curing dry cough. Turmeric – 

It is proven that turmeric powder or paste is useful to human health in many ways. Turmeric contains curcumin, a yellow chemical that is effective in reducing inflammation.
